Why does MEGA BASE contain prebiotics and what are they good for
The gut microbiome is the community of microorganisms that inhabit an animal. Beneficial microbes help to form a protective barrier lining the gut and preventing the growth of pathogenic bacteria. The prebiotic agent of ACTIGEN® contained in MEGA BASE is designed to rehabilitate the gut microflora by enhancing the overall microbial diversity which can lead to improved nutrient absorption which is key to gut health. The special yeast cultures of Saccharomyces cerevisiae promote the formation of lactic acid-utilizing bacteria. This minimizes the negative effect on the pH in the gut, especially with a high starch content in the feed ration. In addition, crude fiber digestibility is improved due to the positive effects of Saccharomyces cerevisiae on cellulose-splitting bacteria, which also optimizes the release and absorption of essential trace and bulk elements as well as vitamins.
